The University of Southern California (USC) invites applications for a full-time clinical (non-tenure track) assistant professor level position in the Center for Genetic Epidemiology within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences.

About the role

  • Advancing knowledge in genetic or molecular epidemiology
  • Developing externally funded research programs
  • Collaborating with experts in genetics, genomics, and computational biology
  • Engaging in population-based research focusing on health disparities for common chronic diseases and phenotypes

Responsibilities

  • Broaden expertise in genomic analysis and the establishment of population-based resources for genetic and molecular studies
  • Contribute to the development of innovative research projects and methodologies
  • Collaborate with other researchers and departments within the university
  • Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows

Requirements

  • Demonstrated publication and funding record in genetic or molecular epidemiology
  • Leadership within the field of genetic population-based research and molecular epidemiology
  • Expertise in genomic analysis and the initiation of population-based resources for studies of the molecular and genetic basis of disease
  • Collegiality, resourcefulness, and motivation

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Epidemiology, or related field
  • Experience in conducting genetic and molecular epidemiological research
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to secure external funding
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
