The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is expanding and seeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. Requirements
- Completion of a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.
- Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology (equivalence may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
- Research experience is highly desirable but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of cases, including orthopedics, GYN, community OB, abdominal cases, general vascular, and kidney transplants (cardiac cases and small children under 2 years of age are not required).
- Demonstrate limited skills in regional anesthesia and ability to anesthetize older children.
- Supervise residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs, and perform cases independently when required.
- Participate in academic activities, including teaching, mentoring trainees, and attending departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
- Take 3-4 overnight calls per month (some may be from home), with potential evening and weekend calls.
Effort distribution may change based on department needs, candidate’s interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.
Pay
Compensation depends on years of experience and professorial rank at the time of hiring.
