Assistant Professor of Clinical - Anesthesiology, Cardiac
Job Description
The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is seeking exceptional candidates for a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist position. About the Role
The successful candidate will provide perioperative cardiothoracic and vascular care to patients at two major institutions, including the University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital. They will manage a high volume of cases, including minimally invasive valve repair/replacement, CABG, adult congenital procedures, aortic reconstruction, and other major vascular cases.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of cardiothoracic cases, including orthopedics, GYN, ENT, abdominal cases, and kidney transplants.
- Comfortable supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
- Ability to anesthetize older children and perform limited skills in regional pain.
- Participate in academic activities such as teaching, mentoring trainees, and departmental conferences.
- Call is expected to be from home, with one weekday and a monthly weekend call.
Requirements
- Completed US-approved residency in Anesthesiology and a year of Cardiothoracic fellowship training.
- TEE board certification or Testamur status required.
- Anesthesiology board eligibility or certification required.
Qualifications
- Experience in performing liver or multivisceral transplant cases or treating small children (
- Comfortable performing cases independently if required.
- Able to participate in the academic activities of the department.
Skills
- Comfortable performing a wide variety of cardiothoracic cases.
- Ability to anesthetize older children.
- Limited skills in regional pain.
