About the role

The Department of Business Administration in the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor in data analytics. The appointment will begin July 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the required "Fundamentals of Business Statistics and Data Analytics" course.
  • Develop electives that build on existing departmental strengths while expanding student opportunity.
  • Areas of particular interest include sustainability analytics, ethics of data science, business intelligence, visual analytics, cultural and legal implications of digital technology, machine learning, AI, and data-driven storytelling.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the time of appointment.
  • ABD candidates must present evidence that their dissertation will be defended by July 1, 2027, and have teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach business statistics (with a preference for Python) and demonstrated teaching effectiveness are required.

Pay

The expected salary for this position is between $147,000 - $157,000. Offers are based on factors such as relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.

Schedule

The regular teaching load is five courses per year. New hires teach a 2-2 load in their first year. The school calendar consists of two 13-week terms, one in the fall and one in the winter, along with our unique 4-week spring term.
