Assistant Professor of Business Administration - Data Analytics
Washington and Lee University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in data analytics within the Department of Business Administration in the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics. The appointment begins July 1, 2027.
About the Role
The successful candidate will teach the required "Fundamentals of Business Statistics and Data Analytics" course and develop electives that align with departmental strengths while expanding student opportunities. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Sustainability analytics
- Ethics of data science

- Cultural and legal implications of digital technology
- Machine learning

- Data-driven storytelling
The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching within an undergraduate liberal arts setting, with a preference for candidates who value interdisciplinary studies and can integrate their course content with other disciplines. Expertise in diverse pedagogical techniques and a strong interest in experiential learning are highly encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Teach five courses per year (2-2 load in the first year) in a calendar consisting of two 13-week terms (fall and winter) and a unique 4-week spring term.
- Publish scholarly research in business and related fields.
- Contribute service to the W&L community.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the time of appointment. ABD candidates must present evidence that their dissertation will be defended by July 1, 2027.
- Teaching experience and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
- Ability to teach business statistics with a preference for Python.
- Enthusiasm for innovative undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment.
- Capacity for scholarly research and service contributions.

Pay
The expected salary for this position is between $147,000 and $157,000, based on factors such as relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market considerations.
