About the role
The Carleton College’s Department of History and Program in Africana Studies seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in African history to start in September 2027. The successful candidate should have their Ph.D. completed by July 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teach 5 courses across three ten-week terms, including introductory and advanced courses and research seminars.
- Work closely with and have primary service responsibilities in Carleton’s Africana Studies program.
- Commitment to teaching in a small liberal arts college environment, particularly with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Desirable teaching experience.

Qualifications

Benefits
The expected starting salary range for this position is between $87,480 - $93,290. Benefits include:
