The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing to begin August 18, 2027.

About the Role

Candidates must demonstrate experience in and/or commitment to teaching, a strong research interest and capability, and the ability to interact effectively with the business community. The candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of Accounting Information Systems or Auditing.

The School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited with approximately 800 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. Academic programs include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School’s faculty includes 15 tenure-track faculty as well as several full- and part-time lecturers.

Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and items/data supporting research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing
  • Engage in both campus and professional service activities
  • Demonstrate past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria

Requirements

  • A record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments
  • Demonstrated capacity to teach graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, with all degree requirements met before August 18, 2027

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
  • Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU
  • Engagement in service or research with different populations in higher education

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $140,000 to $155,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
