San Diego State University’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing, beginning August 18, 2027.

About the role

The School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited and serves approximately 800 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Academic programs include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The faculty consists of 15 tenure-track members and several full- and part-time lecturers.

Research support includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and data.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing
  • Engage in campus and professional service activities
  • Interact effectively with the business community
  • Demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence through past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, completed by August 18, 2027
  • Record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop a strong research agenda and teach at the university level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
  • Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative research, scholarship, or teaching
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Interest in service to the university, community, and profession
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU
  • Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education

Pay

The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $155,000, based on the current CSU salary schedule. Placement will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, with potential for higher salaries in limited circumstances.
