School of Accountancy Assistant Professor Pool (AIS) 2027-2028

San Diego State University’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing, starting August 18, 2027.

About the role

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited, serving approximately 800 undergraduate and 100 graduate students through programs including a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School’s faculty consists of 15 tenure-track faculty and several full- and part-time lecturers.

Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and research-related items/data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing.
• Engage in campus and professional service activities.
• Interact effectively with the business community.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, completed by August 18, 2027.
• Record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments, with demonstrated capacity to:
  • Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
  • Engage in campus and professional service.
• Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies.
• Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
• Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching.
• University-level teaching experience.
• Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession.
• Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU.
• Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $155,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, with potential for higher salaries in limited circumstances.
