About the role

The Assistant Professor for the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Thomas Jefferson University collaborates with the nurse anesthesia faculty and Program Administrator to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum and learning experiences of students in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Program Administrator and nurse anesthesia faculty to ensure a curriculum that aligns with the College and University missions and educational standards.
  • Organizes the curriculum to ensure a logical sequence of teaching and learning, identifying clinical competencies required of all graduates.
  • Maintains program records and files in collaboration with administrative support staff.
  • Administers anesthesia one day per week to maintain clinical expertise and participates in clinical instruction of students.
  • Communicates effectively with personnel and provides an environment conducive to student engagement and participation.
  • Serves on College committees and demonstrates emerging leadership roles.
  • Serves as a mentor for didactic and clinical faculty and represents the College in appropriate University activities.
  • Participates in professional organizations and contributes to the nursing profession through scholarly activities.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • National certification as a Certified Registered Anesthetist.
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional memberships relevant to areas of expertise.
  • Five (5) years full-time post-secondary teaching experience at an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of progressive leadership and academic responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated scholarly productivity, including contributions to the professional literature, presentations, and publications.
  • Experience in academic appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor in a collegiate nursing program or two (2) years at the rank of Instructor at an accredited institution.
