This full-time, exempt faculty position in the Information Technology department is on-site in Overland Park, Kansas, starting Spring 2027. The role offers a hybrid schedule and a starting salary range of $55,069.00 - $93,037.00, determined by relevant work experience.

About the role

The faculty member will teach a variety of IT areas, including networking, systems administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. This position requires expert-level knowledge in the IT discipline, a commitment to professional development, and active participation in college, division, and program activities. The role demands a positive team player with leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in IT areas such as networking, systems administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrate deep subject knowledge, including key concepts, current research, methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Maintain faculty credentials as required by accrediting agencies and commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and organize instruction to enhance student learning, including creating assignments, using instructional technology, and assessing student progress.
  • Use a variety of teaching and assessment methods to facilitate student mastery of content and provide constructive feedback.
  • Communicate clearly with students, including articulating expectations, guiding course activities, and providing timely feedback.
  • Meet classes as scheduled, prepare and distribute syllabi, maintain accurate student records, and evaluate students based solely on academic performance.
  • Be accessible to students through email, office hours, and other means.
  • Participate in college, division, program, and department committees, and contribute to the growth and enhancement of the college mission and programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to create and maintain partnerships and support both adjunct and full-time colleagues.
  • Engage in curriculum development, revision, and planning, and assist in student, faculty, and staff recruitment and retention.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, professional development opportunities, and mandatory training.
  • Fulfill all requirements as stated in the Master Agreement and college policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or a combination of degree, industry-related training, and industry experience.
  • Minimum one year of Information Technology related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Previous IT industry work experience.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to accomplish tasks within given timelines.
  • Expert-level knowledge in some of the following areas: Cisco (CCNA), Microsoft Azure, Linux (LPIC-1), Cybersecurity (Security+, PenTest+), Cloud Computing, Operating Systems (CompTIA A+).
  • Active status in at least one of the following industry certifications or higher: CCNA, LPIC-1, A+, Security+, Azure, or others considered.
  • Expected to obtain and maintain active status in certifications related to assigned courses.
  • Demonstrated positive teamwork experience with evidence of workload contributions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Curriculum development experience.
  • Teaching experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Three years of IT teaching/training experience.
  • Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI).

Pay

Starting salary range: $55,069.00 - $93,037.00, determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
