About the role

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a 12-month Assistant Professor-in-Residence position, starting Fall 2026 with an assignment to serve as our Undergraduate and Internship Coordinator, and Chair of Assessment for the Department.

Responsibilities

• Develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses for our traditional and online degree students.
• Oversee our undergraduate curriculum management and assessment as Undergraduate Coordinator.
• Serve as the principal contact for students and businesses seeking internships.
• Lead undergraduate degree program assessments and evaluations efforts, including collecting data from students, faculty, and industry partners.
• Assist in overseeing our undergraduate curriculum management and assessment as Undergraduate Coordinator.
• Lead initiatives to develop and implement workforce readiness microcredentials at the undergraduate level tied to communication skill development in the workforce.
• Reformulate the M.A. program as an entirely online and professional-oriented, practical, and workforce development/career readiness graduate degree program in Communication.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Communication or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
• 1-3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Instructional Communication, Assessment, and Learning.
• Experience and/or interest in workforce development/career readiness and experiential learning/community-based learning practices.
• Secondary expertise in Interpersonal/Family or Mediated Communication.

Skills

• Ability to teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with workforce development and career readiness.
