The University of California, Irvine, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position at the In-Residence series. This appointment includes membership in the UCI Academic Senate.

About the role

  • Significant research experience and a publication record in human neuropathology with a focus on neurodegeneration.
  • Experience with additional molecular and cellular biological approaches and translational research is preferred.
  • Experience in an Alzheimer Disease Research Center setting.
  • 80% time for independent research and 20% time on the clinical neuropathology service in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
  • Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, commitments to teaching and mentoring, and a desire to serve.

Qualifications

  • An MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology.
  • Eligible for a California medical license.

Requirements

  • Basic qualifications (required at time of application): MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology, and eligible for a California medical license.

Skills

  • Extramural funding or competitive applications for mentored or independent awards, particularly from the federal government.

Benefits

  • Membership in the health science compensation plan, providing for eligibility for additional compensation.

Pay

The total negotiated salary uses AAMC salary benchmarks for Anatomic Pathology, ranging from $260,000 - $310,000.

Schedule

The position includes 80% time for independent research and 20% time on the clinical neuropathology service.
