Job Summary
The Department of Pathology, University of Colorado Anschutz Campus seeks a junior to mid-level faculty member in academic neuropathology, at the rank of Assistant to Associate Professor to join two experienced academic neuropathologists based at the affiliated University of Colorado Hospital (UC Health (UCH), 925 beds) and the Children’s Hospital of Colorado (CHCO, 600 beds), co-located on the Anschutz Campus in the metro Denver area.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical biopsy/resection and medical autopsy derived neuropathology cases from UCH (primarily) and CHCO (secondarily), associated system hospitals as well as consulting institutions, pathologists, and patients.
- Adherence to quality standards/metrics and regulatory requirements associated with departmental anatomic pathology, molecular genetics and cytogenetics labs and our affiliate UCH and CHCO associated laboratories related to neuropathology.
- Participate in continuing education of pathology and laboratory faculty and staff, the application and roll out including education associated with neuropathology tests and interpretation, and their interpretation and understanding across the multidisciplinary spectrum of patient care.
- Ensure timely test completion and accurate reporting of pathology tests associated with your practice, consultations, or translational research.
- Consult with peer pathologists on cases as requested or needed. Be aware that the Department requires all new malignancies to be reviewed and confirmed with a subspecialty colleague prior to diagnostic test release.
- Train and supervise pathology assistants, residents and fellows engaged in specialty training.
- May be involved in research activities and development projects.
- Follow established policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Promote and work to improve relationships with clinicians and the pathology community.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Assistant Professor: Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) with residency training in anatomic pathology Completion of fellowship training in neuropathology and eligible to sit for the neuropathology board exam from the American Board of Pathology. Achieve neuropathology board certification within one year of employment. Evidence of clinical or applied research in any area related to neuropathology of the CNS. 0-5 years of experience
- Associate Professor: Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) with residency training in anatomic pathology Completion of fellowship training in neuropathology and eligible to sit for the neuropathy board exam from the American Board of Pathology. Achieve neuropathology board certification within one year of employment. Evidence of clinical or applied research in any area related to neuropathology of the CNS. 5+ years of experience
