Assistant Professor In-Residence position in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Dunlop School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.
About the Role
The Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry is seeking a qualified Assistant Professor In-Residence with a strong background in cellular metabolism and lipid biology. The ideal candidate will have experience with quantitative metabolic and lipid trafficking methods and demonstrate a proven ability to collaborate with other research teams. Preference will be given to candidates with ongoing research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and foundations, as well as a strong research publication track record.
As a member of the Academic Senate, the appointee will be expected to demonstrate scholarly productivity, contribute to teaching, and participate in university and public service. The department trains doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows and hosts two master’s degree programs: Biotechnology and Biotechnology Management. Faculty also participate in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in cellular metabolism and lipid biology.

- Maintain scholarly productivity through publications and securing research funding.
Requirements
- PhD and 3 or more years of postdoctoral training.
- Experience with quantitative metabolic and lipid trafficking methods.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with research teams.
- Strong research publication track record.
- Preference for candidates with ongoing research funding from NIH, NSF, or foundations.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $93,500 - $121,400. Off-scale salaries and other components of pay may be offered to meet competitive conditions.
