The Kinesiology Department at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Motor Control, Motor Learning, or related disciplines with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. This position is open to candidates with training in a variety of areas, but preference will be given to scholars whose training and work focuses on balance and postural control, neuromotor function, and fall prevention in aging populations. Primary teaching assignments will include both introductory and upper-level motor control and motor learning courses (e.g., Human Motor Control and Learning, Motor Control and Movement Dysfunction, Physical Activity and The Aging Process, Functional Performance Assessment and Programming for Older Adults, Advanced Study in Human Motor Control and Learning). Required QualificationsEarned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment.A strong foundation/training in Motor Control and/or Motor Learning theories and research techniques.Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education.Demonstrated ability/potential to work with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.Record of scholarship in their respective area of specialization.A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service. Preferred QualificationsThe Department is particularly interested in candidates with:Expertise in balance and postural control, fall prevention, or neuromotor rehabilitation, particularly in aging populations.Demonstrated ability or potential to secure external funding.Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration across kinesiology, aging science, gerontology, physical therapy, or public health.Familiarity/experience with high-impact teaching practices (such as service-learning or community-based learning).
