Assistant Professor in Cancer Prevention
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center’s Public Health Sciences (PHS) Division invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a researcher focused on the etiology and biological mechanisms of carcinogenesis as applied to human cancer prevention strategies. Areas of interest include metabolism, nutritional sciences, kinesiology, and toxicology. Candidates may pursue dry-lab, wet-lab, or hybrid research programs.

Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research on cancer and infectious diseases. As the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington, Fred Hutch leads in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy, and COVID-19 vaccines. The center operates eight clinical care sites and maintains network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Faculty are expected to perform primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch.
Requirements
- PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctorate
- Research focus on cancer prevention metabolism, including but not limited to metabolism, nutritional sciences, kinesiology, and toxicology
- Demonstrated potential to develop an independent research program
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead an independent research program within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- Join the Cancer Prevention Program, with potential for a joint appointment in the Translational Research Program

Pay
The annual base salary range for researchers in this position without a clinical practice is $188,142 to $210,563. For MD physician-scientists with an active practice, the range is $233,665 to $501,368. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, degree, specialty, and clinical practice.
