Research Focus

The successful candidate is expected to have research expertise at the intersection of aging and health disparities related to cognitive aging and dementia, economics and retirement, spatial methods and the social determinants of health, and AI and digital technology applications. Other research interests will also be considered.

Teaching Obligations

The successful candidate should be prepared to teach courses in the Department of Gerontology’s undergraduate, masters, or doctoral programs, or in partnering academic programs. The faculty member will be expected to participate in mentoring students by serving as an advisor, on doctoral dissertation, comprehensive examination, and research practicum committees, and including students in their research.

Qualifications

Outstanding candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in gerontology, psychology, economics, social work, sociology, public policy, public health, human development and family studies, or an interdisciplinary program. Applicants with terminal degrees in other fields will also be considered.

Pay

UMass Boston expects to pay within an approximate range between $80,000 and $91,000 for this position. The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on the consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment.

Schedule

The successful candidate will begin on September 1, 2026.
