Assistant Professor - Ethics in CDI
About the role
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Information School seeks highly qualified candidates for a tenure track position with research and teaching emphasis in the area of ethics of computing, data, and information. This position will be an academic nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, to start in August 2023. This position is one of three new faculty positions that are part of a cluster hire in ethics of computing, data, and information. Other units participating in the cluster are the departments of Computer Sciences and Philosophy and the Holtz Center for Science, Technology & Society.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative research projects in the field of ethics of computing, data, and information.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of ethics of computing, data, and information.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the university on interdisciplinary projects related to ethics in computing, data, and information.
- Participate in the professional development of students through advising and mentoring.
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant field such as computer science, philosophy, information studies, or a related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
- Strong record of scholarly achievement in the field of ethics of computing, data, and information.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring students in these areas.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
