About the role
The School of Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2026. Applicants with expertise in K-12 teaching, leadership, curriculum development, pedagogy, special education, and social justice issues are encouraged to apply. Faculty in the School of Education are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community. The School prepares quality educators and leaders for elementary, secondary, and post-secondary positions and offers online programs preparing professionals for leadership at master’s and doctoral levels.
This is an in-person position; remote work is not a component of the role. Faculty are expected to maintain a consistent on-campus presence and be physically present several days per week to support teaching, student engagement, and participation in School and University activities.
Direct supervisor: School of Education Director, Jessica Marotta. Status: Full-Time, Exempt. Location: Main Campus (2807 N Glebe).
Responsibilities
- Support and integrate the mission and core values of Marymount University and Academic Affairs.
- Assume teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the School and as outlined in the Marymount Faculty Handbook.
- Maintain office hours at times which provide appropriate access to students.
- Advise assigned student advisees with program and licensure requirements and career information.
- Engage in on-going professional development, including scholarship activities such as research, presentations, and participation with professional organizations.
- Contribute to University and School program functions and services, including assessment and continuous improvement activities.
- Assume other professional responsibilities as requested by the College Dean or School Director.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in special education, educational leadership, or related field.
- K-12 school teaching experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching and dedication to high standards and student success.
- Scholarly publication record or scholarly potential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with university-level teaching and advising in a pre-service teacher education program.
- Technology skills related to online teaching.
Pay
The anticipated salary for this position is $65,000 per year.
