Assistant Professor - Digital Curation
About the role
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science (SLIS) seeks an engaged and energetic colleague with a focus on the theory, development, and practice of broadly conceived notions of digital curation, as well as expertise in curriculum development and teaching of digital/data curation.
Responsibilities
- Explore digital content in any area, including but not limited to government data, scientific data, community data, cultural heritage data, humanities data, health data, or personal data.
- Have a wide range of thematic emphases, including but not limited to: civil society and democracy, activism and social justice, data governance, public engagement (e.g., citizen science, public history, community archives), disparities and inequality, sociotechnical challenges, materiality and temporality.
Requirements
Successful applicants should have a PhD in library and information science, or a related field, with a strong background in digital curation, curriculum development, and teaching.
Qualifications
- Expertise in digital curation and curriculum development.
- Experience teaching digital/data curation courses.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of digital curation theories and practices.
- Experience with curriculum design and delivery.
- Ability to teach online and in-person classes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
