Assistant Professor – Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian

Jacksonville State University’s Houston Cole Library invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian position.

About the role

This position has primary responsibilities in cataloging materials as they are received, maintaining authority records, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Library’s catalog. The role also involves planning and implementing policies and procedures for the Technical Services Department. Additionally, the position includes scanning reviews and selection tools to identify potential additions to the collection, submitting orders for materials to the Acquisitions Department, and overseeing collection management and development policies, including subject assessments.

Responsibilities

• Catalog materials upon receipt.
• Maintain authority records.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the Library’s catalog.
• Plan and implement policies and procedures for the Technical Services Department.
• Scan reviews and selection tools to identify potential additions to the collection.
• Submit orders for materials to the Acquisitions Department.
• Oversee collection management and development policies, including subject assessments.

Requirements

• Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.

Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have previous experience in:

• Cataloging
• RDA
• OCLC’s Connexion

Pay

Annual salary of $50,000.00 for this nine-month, tenure-track position.
