Assistant Professor, Counseling and Development
Long Island University (LIU) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Counseling and Development, College of Education, Information and Technology.
About the role
This position involves teaching and advising graduate students in the CACREP-accredited master’s degree programs in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling at the LIU Post and LIU Brentwood campuses. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to scholarly research, grant writing, and curriculum management and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the clinical mental health counseling and school counseling programs at the LIU Post and LIU Brentwood campuses.
- Develop and maintain an active research agenda.
- Mentor and advise graduate counseling student trainees.
- Supervise graduate student trainee fieldwork experiences in counseling practicum and internship courses.
- Participate in curriculum improvement and departmental and university committee activities.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure the continued success of graduate counseling programs.
- Maintain active membership and involvement in professional counseling organizations.
Requirements
- Doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program.
- Experience in mental health counseling and/or school counseling.
- Preferred: Record of successful experience in higher education or other educational environments with publication and grant writing experience.
- Preferred: Research expertise, publications, and professional experience in school counseling.
- Preferred: Knowledge of the 2016/2024 CACREP standards and Brightspace/D2L and Tevera or equivalent online instructional software.
