Assistant Professor, Computer Engineering

About the role

The Computer Engineering Department at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in January or August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach, supervise, and advise students in both undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Establish a research program related to his/her field of interest.
• Participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
• Strong commitment and potential to teaching excellence, dedication to professional development and scholarship.
• Broad knowledge of computer/software engineering.
• Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population.

Pay

Anticipated hiring academic year annual salary range: $106,000 - $126,000.
