Assistant Professor (Career-Track) Faculty Position in Cybersecurity
Washington State University (WSU) in Everett, WA is launching a new research and education program in cybersecurity, supported by $2 million in state funding. We invite applications for a 9-month, full-time, career-track teaching faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in computer science, with a focus on cybersecurity.
About the role
The successful candidate will implement evidence-based pedagogy in undergraduate computer science and computer engineering education, supporting degrees in cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering, and software engineering. This position offers collaboration opportunities with initiatives such as the WSU-PNNL Advanced Grid Institute (AGI), DOD-funded CySER Institute for cybersecurity, and NSF-USDA AgAID AI Institute.
The appointment is for a 2-year fixed term, with renewal contingent upon performance. The anticipated start date is no later than January 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, computer science, and computer engineering.
- Participate in continuous teaching assessment activities of the unit and campus.
- Effectively communicate and interact with students.
- Collaborate with others within the unit, the University, or external organizations, including regional partners such as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline by December 15, 2026.
- Demonstrated strong teaching, communication, and leadership skills.
- Optionally, real-world experience working on cybersecurity tools and systems, and experience in developing cybersecurity-related curriculum.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline by December 15, 2026.

Pay
Monthly salary range: $95,000 - $105,000. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to the mid-point of the salary range.
