Assistant Professor, Biology
for section headings (e.g., About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). But we should only include sections when posting has real specific content. We need to map content to these headings appropriately.
We should not repeat job title as heading. No Job ID etc.
We need to preserve all substantive info, no boilerplate like EEO etc. Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions? Wait: "Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions." So we should remove application instructions? The posting includes "Special Instructions To Applicants" and "Required Application Materials". Those are application instructions. According to rule, we must remove application instructions. So we should omit those sections. Also remove EEO statement. Also remove "FGCU is a State University System..." etc.
We need to keep substantive info: Job Summary, Job Description (duties), Required Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities, Institutional Values & Behavioral Expectations. Also maybe "Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites..." etc.
We need to decide headings: Could use "About the role" for job summary. "Responsibilities" for duties. "Requirements" for required qualifications. "Qualifications" maybe for preferred? Or we could combine required and preferred under Requirements? But guidelines: Use headings like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We can choose which are relevant.
We have no info about Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we should NOT include those sections because they are not stated. So we omit Benefits, Pay, Schedule.
We have content for About the role (Job Summary). Responsibilities (Job Description). Requirements (Required Qualifications). Qualifications (Preferred Qualifications). Skills (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities). Maybe also Institutional Values & Behavioral Expectations could be under Skills? Or maybe we could add a section "Institutional Values" but not in list; but we should only use allowed headings? The instruction: "use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." It says e.g., meaning those are examples, not exclusive. We could add other headings if needed, but better to stick to those. Institutional Values could be part of Skills or maybe we could add a section "Expectations". But to be safe, we could incorporate Institutional Values into Skills or maybe a separate section "Expectations". However the instruction says "use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." It doesn't forbid other headings, but suggests using those. I'd include a section for "Institutional Values & Behavioral Expectations" as its own heading maybe "Expectations". But to follow guidance, maybe we can treat it as part of Skills (since it's about behaviors). But better to keep it separate with a heading like "Expectations". However the instruction says "use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." It doesn't say we cannot use other headings, but it's implied to use those for typical sections. I'd include a section "Expectations" as Expectations
. That seems reasonable.
We must output only HTML fragment, no /, no markdown fences.
We need to use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose.
We need to preserve all substantive info, not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to include details like "Teach 9 credit hours per semester of core and upper-level, and/or graduate courses in biology and related subjects." etc. We need to convert those into list items.
We need to be careful not to include duplicated lines.
Let's extract content.
Job Summary paragraph: "Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) seeks an exceptional Assistant Professor of Biology whose scholarship and teaching advance our department’s strengths in biological sciences. The successful candidate will be a student-centered educator and an active scholar who integrates undergraduates and master’s students into a sustainable research program. Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. All faculty are expected to: be excellent teachers, responsive to changing professional needs; be committed to innovative delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning; be committed to effective use of technology including distance learning; produce peer reviewed scholarship; and provide service to the College, University and Community. Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region. The Department of Biological Sciences and FGCU provide unique opportunities for candidates interested in this position. On an average year, we support 900 undergraduate students and 15 to 25 Master’s students. Departmental faculty possess wide range of scholarly interests to include molecular, genetic, and organismal pursuits as well as community-engaged research and SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning). Faculty also provide variety of learning opportunities that run the range of Bloom’s taxonomy (from recall to creation) and, therefore, employ different approaches to include integrated lab-lectures, active-learning, and Course-embedded Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs). Faculty, staff, and students also partner extensively with the community members, which supports the university’s sustainability and service-learning goals. In addition, half of the campus is set aside as conservation areas, which creates a living laboratory for both teaching and research opportunities for the field and lab. This is a special place for people who want to connect their teaching, research, and service. The ideal candidate will complement departmental strengths; demonstrate the potential to secure external support; and show a clear commitment to pedagogy that elevates student success (e.g., active learning, CUREs, POGIL), mentoring, and collaborative engagement within and beyond the University. FGCU is building a culture of curiosity, commitment and collaboration. We value employees who successfully work with others and drive positive change through critical thinking and decisive action. If you thrive in an environment of innovation, accountability and mutual respect, you will find a good home here."
