About the role

The Biology Department at Carthage College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position in Biology with a focus on Cell Biology starting August 15, 2027 or possibly January 15, 2027. For best consideration, applications should be received by October 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Introductory Biology and Advanced Cell Biology
• Teach additional upper-level biology courses based on area of expertise
• Establish a productive research program involving undergraduates
• Maintain a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching

Requirements

• PhD in Biology or closely related discipline
• Commitment to innovative curriculum or pedagogical practices
• Demonstrated record of successful undergraduate biology instruction
• Demonstrated potential to establish a productive research program with undergraduates
• Enthusiasm for educating students from widely varying backgrounds
