About the Role
The Department of Sociology invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor to join the faculty in Fall 2027 in Criminology, using either qualitative or quantitative methods. The position requires active participation in research, on campus undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service responsibilities within the department.

Qualifications
- Completion of the Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field by the time of hire is required
- All areas of research and teaching expertise will be considered
- Preference given to candidates who can also teach Statistics or Theory
About the Department & University
The Department has 22 faculty members, more than 400 undergraduate majors and 40 sociology graduate students. Programs offered include bachelor's degrees in Applied Sociology, Criminology, Social Work, and Sociology. The Department also houses a master's and PhD program in Sociology (http://www.sociology.msstate.edu). The Department has strong ties to the African American Studies Program, Gender Studies Program, the Social Science Research Center, the National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center, and the Southern Rural Development Center.
