About the role

The Physics Department at Juniata College invites applications for a fixed-term assistant professor position, with the potential for conversion to a tenure-track position. The department offers bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Engineering Physics, graduating an average of ten students annually, with the majority in Engineering Physics.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses for both majors and non-majors, including upper division lecture and laboratory courses in engineering and physics.
• Support and build upon the curriculum in the area of engineering physics and enhance the 3+2 Dual Degree program.
• Presume an active scholarly agenda while being committed to outstanding teaching.
• Support and strengthen the Engineering Physics program within a Physics Department at a liberal arts college.
• Engage in research projects and pursue external funding opportunities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Engineering, Applied Physics, or related area.
• Strong interest in undergraduate instruction.
• Commitment to supporting and enhancing an Engineering Physics program within a Physics Department at a liberal arts college.
• One to three years of teaching experience.
