About the role

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy (UNT-SCP) seeks to hire an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) of Pharmaceutical Sciences with a background in Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, or Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Department and contribute to the development of the educational, research, and service programs of the College of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture of scholarly excellence within the Department through research that ensures the faculty member remains on the cutting edge of their chosen areas of research and scholarly activity relevant to the future of pharmacy.
  • Implement and improve the Doctor of Pharmacy, the Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development, and the PhD in pharmaceutical sciences curriculums as they relate to the basic pharmaceutical sciences components of professional pharmacy and research education.
  • Contribute to service efforts that enhance the quality of pharmacy and graduate education and research in Texas and nationwide.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
    • Track record of securing extramural funding from agencies such as the NIH or NSF, with experience managing research budgets.
    • High-impact publications in peer-reviewed research journals, demonstrating contributions to advancing therapeutic strategies.
    • Capacity to lead an independent research program while mentoring graduate.
    • Skill in designing courses that integrate research insights, case studies, and clinical applications.
    • Ability to create evaluations that measure theoretical knowledge, experimental skills, and critical thinking.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A track record of scholarly excellence as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or funding awards in the field of Toxicology, Pharmacology, or Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics.
  • Teaching experience in a graduate or professional program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
