Department of Psychology at the University of Utah seeks a full-time career-line (non-tenure) faculty member at the Assistant or Associate level in the Clinical Science program.

About the role

We are seeking applicants with a clinical science orientation who have strong interests in program development, administration, and evaluation. The position involves undergraduate and graduate (PhD and Masters) level teaching in clinically focused courses such as introduction to clinical science and practice, psychopathology, and courses focused on training students in evidence-based treatments and skills.

Experience in teaching in or directing Masters level psychology graduate programs, providing clinical supervision, and being license-eligible in the state of Utah are highly preferred. Special consideration will be given to applicants who can contribute to one of our areas of specialty training: clinical child and family, clinical neuropsychology, clinical health psychology, and general psychopathology.

The Clinical Science program is a member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science and has been continuously accredited by APA since 1954. The program fosters generative collaborations within its areas of specialization and with other graduate training programs in the department (Cognition and Neural Sciences, Developmental, Social, and Quantitative), as well as with other departments and colleges across campus (e.g., Educational Psychology, Ethnic Studies, Family and Consumer Studies, Gender Studies, Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology).

The department promotes multidisciplinary collaboration with entities such as the School of Computing, Bioengineering, the Business School, the College of Education, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Radiology, the Digital Health Initiative, the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), the Behavioral Health Innovation and Dissemination Center (BHIDC), the Utah Network for LGBTQ Thriving (ThriveNet), and the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in clinically focused areas (e.g., introduction to clinical science and practice, psychopathology, evidence-based treatments).
  • Contribute to program development, administration, and evaluation within the Clinical Science program.
  • Provide clinical supervision to students.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary collaborations within and outside the Department of Psychology.
  • Support and advance the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Clinical science orientation with interests in program development, administration, and evaluation.
  • Experience or strong potential in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Experience in clinical supervision or willingness to obtain licensure eligibility in Utah.
  • Commitment to working with diverse student populations and improving access to education and healthcare for historically underrepresented groups.

Qualifications

  • Preference for candidates with experience in teaching or directing Masters level psychology graduate programs.
  • Special consideration for applicants contributing to specialty areas: clinical child and family, clinical neuropsychology, clinical health psychology, or general psychopathology.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary research or collaboration is highly valued.
