The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with the start date of 8/23/2027. Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the department chair, successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves:

• Maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment
• Evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, and providing regular and substantive feedback on student work
• Maintaining appropriate records and holding office hours
• The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active, ongoing program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline
• Providing service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations
• Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean

Key job responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit
• Contributing to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations
• Collaborating with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline
• May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction
• Facilitating classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance
• Advising students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study
• Developing and designing curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate in Chemistry discipline or related field. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior higher education teaching experience and ability to teach Analytical Chemistry and General Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
• A research plan that is appropriate for a Primarily Undergraduate Institution, and that complements the needs of the department
• A demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed academic journals
• Ability to contribute to shared efforts supporting the growth and maintenance of instrumentation resources within the department
