Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry

Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Pepperdine University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry to begin August 1, 2027. This position is based at the Malibu campus and is part of the Natural Science Division.

The successful candidate will contribute to the excellence and vibrancy of the Pepperdine experience through teaching, research, mentoring of undergraduates, and service to the university, profession, and community. Seaver College is a residential liberal arts college of approximately 3,500 students, emphasizing the total development of students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interest and effectiveness in teaching, a commitment to establishing a productive research program, and a desire to mentor undergraduate students in both teaching and research.

Candidates must have an active commitment to the Christian mission of Pepperdine University and reflect on their willingness to support the mission of Seaver College in their application materials.

Responsibilities

• Teach analytical chemistry and instrumentation courses.
• Teach introductory chemistry courses for science majors.
• Establish and maintain an active and promising scholarly program.
• Mentor undergraduate students in teaching and research.
• Serve the university, profession, and surrounding community.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or a closely related discipline, completed by August 1, 2027.
• Background and ability to teach analytical chemistry and instrumentation.
• Active and promising scholarly agenda.
• Commitment to Pepperdine University’s Christian mission.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Pay

The salary for this appointment will range from $91,527 to $97,701 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
