The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track.

Qualifications

• M.D. degree required
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology required

Teaching responsibilities

• Teaching, training, and mentoring of radiation oncology residents, medical physics residents, medical physics graduate students, and visiting physics residents or trainees from other institutions and countries
• Both formal and informal teaching engagements, including active participation in resident didactic series
• Serving both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant

Clinical responsibilities

• Specialized gynecologic brachytherapy, including high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy for cervical, uterine, and vaginal cancers, utilizing state-of-the-art, accredited technology
• Care of patients with breast cancer
• Comprehensive array of treatment modalities: conventional radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), proton therapy, photon and proton reirradiation, and total body irradiation (TBI)
• Ensuring the highest standard of individualized, multidisciplinary care for all patients served

Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and students. The outstanding faculty and staff, combined with Penn's extensive collection of advanced technology, gives patients access to nearly every treatment option available for their cancer.

Treatment modalities available include External-Beam Radiation Therapy (Proton Therapy, Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Photodynamic therapy (PDT), Total body irradiation (TBI), Total skin electron beam therapy (TSEBT)), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (CyberKnife, Edge, Gamma Knife, TrueBeam), and Internal Radiation Therapy (brachytherapy, MammoSite).

The brachytherapy suite at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine is a state-of-the-art, dedicated outpatient facility specializing in high-dose rate (HDR) treatments for prostate, gynecologic, and head/neck cancers. It features advanced in-room imaging, including BK ultrasound and fluoroscopy, and is located next to MRI services for precise 3D treatment planning.

With the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Radiation Oncology provides patient care at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and fourteen community-based sites.
