Responsibilities
- Teaching Responsibilities Within The Veterinary Technology Program Include Deliver high quality undergraduate instruction that prepares students for successful completion of program requirements and the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), including hands-on laboratory and clinical instruction involving all domestic species;
- Develop, revising, and implementing course content, instructional materials, and curricula that support continuous improvement and accreditation standards of the Veterinary Technology Program;
- Utilize effective and inclusive teaching strategies appropriate for diverse student populations, including delivery in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats;
- Integrate experiential learning, applied clinical skills, and industry relevant competencies into coursework;
- Collaborate with the Animal Science Program and other academic units to develop interdisciplinary and innovative courses consistent with workforce and industry needs.
Program Support and Service Responsibilities
- Aid in recruitment, retention, and advising of students in the Veterinary Technology Program;
- Support the expansion of internship, practicum, and experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with industry, agency, and community partners;
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, professional standards, veterinary procedures, ethical guidelines, and applicable state and federal regulations;
- Supervise assigned staff and supporting the operational needs of the Veterinary Technology Program;
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee assignments and other duties consistent with faculty governance and shared service expectations.
Clinical Duties
- Serve as a Clinical Veterinarian at the Florida A&M University Research and Extension Center;
- Perform routine clinical procedures, including diagnostics, treatment, and surgery, in support of teaching, research, and extension activities;
- Provide clinical oversight for instructional laboratories and for demonstration and research animals housed at the Research and Extension Center;
- Conduct clinical activities that are closely aligned with instructional objectives and student training in veterinary technology.
Qualifications
- DVM/VMD, DVM/MS, DVM MPH, or DVM/PhD;
- Student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on quick response time;
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and participate in multi-institution collaborations;
- Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills;
- A demonstrated ability to learn and use necessary technology quickly and adeptly;
