About the role

Florida A&M University's Division of Occupational Therapy is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the 12-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor vacancy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the instructional design and delivery of Human Anatomy and Neuroanatomy (Standard B.1.1), ensuring content includes biological and physical sciences, neurosciences, and their application to human occupation;
• Facilitate student development of professional reasoning (Standard B.3.2) by linking anatomical structures to functional performance, performance patterns, and clinical interventions;
• Participate in the ongoing assessment of student learning outcomes to ensure the program meets current educational standards and prepares students for entry-level practice;
• Maintain an active line of scholarship and research as defined by the sponsoring institution’s mission;
• Mentor students in scholarly activities, which may include capstone projects (for OTD programs) or research electives;
• Actively seek extramural funding and disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations;
• Provide academic advising to occupational therapy students, supporting their professional identity and growth;
• Serve on Departmental, School, and University committees;
• Contribute to the program’s Self-Study process and maintenance of ACOTE accreditation (Standard A.1.4).

Minimum Qualifications

• A doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, OTD, EdD, ScD) awarded by an institution accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body in occupational therapy or related field (Standard A.2.2 and A.2.5.);
• Initially certified occupational therapist who is eligible for or currently holds licensure in the state of Florida or eligibility to secure FL licensure (ACOTE Standard A.2.5.);
• A minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience as an Occupational Therapist is required, along with prior instructional experience in a college or university academic program.

Recommended Competencies

• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite;
• Experience with statistical software;
• Familiarity with computer-based learning platforms(such as Black Board and Canvas);

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience teaching functional anatomy and neuroanatomy at the graduate level, along with a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and/or success in securing research funding.
• Familiarity with the 2023 ACOTE Standards and experience with accreditation and re-accreditation processes is also preferred.

Pay Plan

This is a Faculty position.
