Responsibilities
- Create and oversee an employee training schedule that emphasizes productivity and resource conservation.
- Evaluate each station of the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries.
- Assume responsibility for manufacturing and shipping processes in the plant.
- Inspect products prior to shipment to ensure accurate labeling and record keeping.
- Maintain open lines of communication between employees, management, and executives.
- Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly.
- Coordinate production activities and special projects.
- Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate department activities and special projects to ensure quality and meet timetables.
- Evaluate department processes and recommend changes based on analysis.
- Direct staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports.
- Ensure all duties from the previous day are completed using the Warehouse Supply Technician - Duties Checklist (form CS-4041).
- Monitor staff punctuality and work readiness; alert HR to truancies and absences via email.
- Document incomplete tasks and assist staff in resolving complex or out-of-policy operational problems.
- Observe and document tardiness or absences from workstations.
- Coordinate and document lunches and breaks, addressing any abuses.
- Assist in conducting interviews, training new staff, and providing employee orientation.
- Coach and provide career development advice to staff.
- Establish employee goals and conduct performance reviews.
- Manage staff scheduling, including work assignments, rotations, vacations, breaks, overtime, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
- Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.
- Schedule and conduct staff meetings.
- Ensure department meets productivity and quality goals.
- Communicate with other supervisors and managers.
- Serve on committees and teams as a department representative.
- Complete human resource paperwork as required.
- Train and review inventory control to maintain proper levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Keep accurate records of inventory using the tracker and daily production sheets.
- Ensure all shipping and receiving paperwork is turned in and signed.
- Oversee product startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
- Communicate with QC and maintenance mechanics to ensure procedures are followed and machines are properly maintained.
