Assistant Produce Manager

About the role

As the Assistant Produce Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you’ll help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service while managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store. You’ll assist the Produce Manager with merchandising, ordering, inventory control, product quality, and team supervision, ensuring the department meets freshness standards through proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, display, and rotation of a complete variety of items.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
• Ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Produce team
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork
• Maintain freshness standards by following proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, displaying, and rotation of produce
• Lead a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team
• Unload and sort store deliveries and operate and maintain produce equipment
• Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations and validate that team members follow these procedures

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Outgoing, friendly behavior; positive attitude; ability to interact with customers
• Good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
• Perform general housekeeping in the department: clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
• Adhere to all safety, health, Weights and Measures regulations including COOL, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
• Ability to perform the following throughout the entire work day: standing, walking, bending, climbing; lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 72”, for a distance up to 3 feet for between 10–50 hours without mechanical assistance
• Ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet, requiring a force of up to 85 pounds for up to 5 hours

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.50 – $29.15 per hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications.
