Assistant Principal

About the role

Under general direction, incumbent(s) create, maintain, and facilitate leadership, supervisory, administrative, and managerial proficiencies to meet the needs, mission, goals, and objectives of the school and its stakeholders.

Essential Functions

• Aid the principal in the general administration of the school and assume the role and responsibility for the principal in his/her absence.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the instructional program, helping to provide leadership for implementation of Arizona academic standards addressed in the District’s curriculum.
• Direct and supervise student extracurricular programs.
• Aid in maintaining student discipline.
• Administer school rules regarding attendance.
• Aid in the evaluations of classified and certificated staff.
• Afford coordination of student funds.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Three years of verified teaching experience in grades Prekindergarten-12;
• Completion of a program in educational administration for principals; or verified current enrollment in a principal prep program.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
• A valid Arizona Department of Education Principal Certification or evidence of eligibility to receive Arizona Principal Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• A practicum as a principal or 2 years of verified experience as a principal or assistant principal in grades Prekindergarten-12.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions;
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts;
• Sometimes exposed to high, precarious places;
• Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles;
• Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals;
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Working Conditions

• Occasionally exposed to noise levels (e.g., from moving mechanical parts);
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
