Assistant Principal

About the role

The job of Assistant Principal is to provide support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities including interviewing and hiring instructional staff, classroom walkthroughs, reviewing fiscal policies, and more.

Responsibilities

• Aids the Principal in the overall operation of the school, taking on delegated authority in the Principal’s absence.
• Collaborates with various district stakeholders to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
• Compiles data from multiple sources to develop and evaluate programs and comply with financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
• Evaluates assigned certificated and support staff to ensure standards are met and performance is maximized.
• Maintains standards-based curriculum instruction and quality learning through development, communication, implementation, and evaluation.
• Enforces policies, procedures, and processes such as emergency plans, end-of-course testing, special education eligibility, and others.
• Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information and facilitate productive outcomes.
• Prepares a variety of materials for documentation, reference, and information dissemination.
• Reports suspected child-related issues to the assigned site administrator.
• Represents the school at community forums to maintain support for educational goals and assist with issues related to the school environment.

Requirements

• Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Leadership Certification (L-5 or higher).
• Three (3) years’ classroom teaching experience.

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.

Continuing Education/Training

Maintains all licenses and certifications.

Clearances

Maintains criminal justice fingerprint background clearance.
