The Accelerated Schools, located just south of Downtown Los Angeles, serve a vibrant community of over 1,700 TK–12 students. We are dedicated to preparing them to excel in college, career, and life through an innovative, equitable, and compassionate approach.

Job Summary

The Assistant Principal reports to the Principal and serves as a key instructional leader. They focus on coaching teachers, supervising and supporting staff, and fostering a positive and inclusive culture.

What You Will Do

  • Guide teachers, instructional leaders, and department chairs in enhancing student achievement through a data-informed instructional cycle, professional learning, and feedback.
  • Mentor, supervise, evaluate, and support teachers and staff through regular classroom observations and actionable feedback.
  • Ensure curriculum, assessments, differentiated learning approaches, and instructional practices align with California State Standards and support high levels of student achievement.
  • Design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Regularly collect, analyze, and share data to drive student achievement and inform school programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design and implement 21st-century curricula, including personalized and project-based learning.
  • Coordinate assessments and share findings to inform instruction.
  • Stay current with research and participate in professional development and meetings.

School Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee all aspects of student safety and campus security, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with support staff to address issues related to student absences, health, and wellness.
  • Supervise student activities and coordinate student incentive and recognition programs.
  • Aid in the development, implementation, and enforcement of school policies and procedures.

School Community Engagement

  • Foster positive and effective communication with all stakeholders to promote professional growth and development.
  • Create a welcoming and enthusiastic environment for staff, students, and parents.
  • Engage parents and community members to actively participate in and contribute to the school's vision and goals.

Qualifications

  • California Single Subject credential with English Learner Authorization (required)
  • California Administrative Services Credential (required) or enrollment in an administrative preparation program (preferred)
  • Spanish Bilingual (preferred)
  • At least three years of classroom teaching experience (five or more years preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years site administrator or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience developing and/or facilitating professional development for other educators (preferred)
  • Experience in a leadership capacity, such as department chairperson or grade level lead teacher (preferred)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary range: $115,000 - $150,557
  • 12 Month Work Calendar
