About the role
Reporting directly to the Police Chief, the Assistant Police Chief serves as the second‑in‑command of the Police Department. This senior leader provides oversight to sworn and non‑sworn management, supervisory, professional, technical, and support staff, and plays a key role in advancing departmental policies, procedures, and protocols while strengthening organizational performance and accountability.
Responsibilities

- Guide budgeting, labor relations, and resource allocation.

Qualifications
- Accomplished and highly respected law‑enforcement professional.
- Strong record of progressive leadership in a complex, diverse, community‑focused police organization.
- Comprehensive understanding of modern policing practices and department operations.
- Experience in personnel management, training, policy development, budgeting, and labor relations.
- Demonstrated ability to promote organizational accountability.
Pay
Salary range: $261,832.80 – $327,290.64 annually, placement within this range dependent on qualifications and experience.
