Position Summary

The Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction, beginning August 2026. We seek applicants with expertise in American political institutions, with strong preference for candidates who can enhance our offerings in the American Presidency, Congress, or Civic Engagement. This academic-professional-track role emphasizes excellence in teaching and service, contributing to both our undergraduate and graduate programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching - Teach introductory courses in American politics - Offer advanced undergraduate and Master’s-level courses in their specialization - Contribute to departmental service, particularly in areas related to curriculum development and program support - Maintain engagement in teaching and service sufficient for promotion within the professional track

Required Qualifications

- Ph.D. in Political Science (ABDs considered but must complete the degree by 09/01/2026) - Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level Political Science courses - Demonstrated experience teaching in American Politics - Interest and experience in service, particularly in curriculum development and recruitment - Commitment to sustained excellence in teaching and service
