Assistant or Associate Professor, Landscape Architecture

About the role

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design seeks to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor to offer graduate-level instruction in landscape architectural design and conduct innovative design research.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate design studios and seminar courses in landscape architecture
• Conduct innovative design research that enhances disciplinary knowledge and expands the boundaries of the field
• Teach undergraduate courses and mentor students pursuing the Landscape Studies minor
• Participate in various centers and institutes at the Weitzman School of Design and across the broader University

Requirements

• A professionally accredited master’s degree in landscape architecture or a terminal degree in a closely related field
• A PhD in landscape architecture or another related field is an enhancement but is not required

Qualifications

• Demonstrate pedagogical innovation and effectiveness in teaching
• Show a strong capacity to produce scholarly and creative work through a record of previous publications, ongoing design research, and plans for future research

Skills

• Ability to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration
• Experience with innovative ecological approaches to landscape design
• Strong commitment to advancing the public good through art, design, planning, and preservation

Schedule

• The position begins on July 1, 2027, and the selected candidate is expected to be in residence in Philadelphia to commence teaching in fall 2027
