About the role
The Department of Brain Health in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure Track) on a 12-month appointment. This physician-scientist position is focused on clinical trials research in neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Responsibilities
- Design, conduct, and oversee clinical trials and translational research within the Department of Brain Health.
- Work closely with industry-sponsored clinical trial organizations to conduct biomarker, diagnostic, and therapeutic clinical trials in central nervous system diseases.
- Mentor and advise graduate students in the UNLV Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program.
- Teach in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine.
Requirements
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an LCME- or COCA-accredited institution.
- Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Nevada and must obtain licensure prior to the start of employment.
- Board certification or board eligibility in a relevant specialty (e.g., Neurology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, or a related field) is required.
- Experience conducting or overseeing clinical trials, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases, is required.
- Experience with industry-sponsored clinical trials and familiarity with FDA regulatory processes is strongly preferred.
- The successful candidate must be eligible for malpractice insurance coverage through UNLV Health or an equivalent institutional mechanism from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
