Assistant or Associate Professor - Architecture & Facility Management
About the role
The College of Engineering and Technology at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture & Facility Management position. The successful candidate will be instrumental in implementing a new 5-year Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree, which is being submitted to the university community for consideration this fall.
Responsibilities
- Teach full-time during the 9-month academic year mainly on the Big Rapids campus via face-to-face delivery with potential opportunities to teach some online or off-campus courses in the future.
- Recruitment of students (including Dawg Days, Admitted Student Days, visits to high schools or career tech centers, and other University-outreach events) will occur throughout the academic year and include some Saturdays.
- Teach and coordinate elective courses in areas of expertise.
- Collaborate in design and implementation of additional undergraduate and graduate degrees.
- Maintain records and conduct assessment and advising in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the university, college, school, department, and/or program.
- Perform duties in accordance with established University policies.
- Act as liaison between the program and professional organizations through active, individual involvement and, potentially as the program-appointed representative.
- Enthusiastically support student success through active involvement with individual students, student organizations, and student competitions, both within and outside of the classroom.
- Remain current in the profession.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of professional practice in architecture in the United States or Canada.
- A Master's degree in field; acceptable options include a NAAB-accredited M.Arch or a NAAB-accredited B.Arch degree plus a post-professional master's degree in a related field such as design, sustainability, or building systems.
- Ancillary licenses and certifications are preferred.
Qualifications
- A working knowledge of and commitment to sustainable design and sustainable systems.
- An interest in and aptitude for marketing an academic program through online advertising campaigns, social media, high school and community college visits, summer camps, or other appropriate channels.
- A background in practice, including teaching a systems integration studio; BIM software, specifically Revit; architectural detailing, construction materials, and/or advanced building systems; and sustainable design.

- Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences.

Pay
$75,000 - $84,000 (Assistant Professor); $85,000 - $95,000 (Associate Professor). Salary commensurate with education, experiences, and other requirements.
