About the role

As an Assistant Program Manager – Central Staffing Office (CSO), you'll have the opportunity to make a system-wide impact by supporting staffing operations across 12 BJC hospitals and helping ensure exceptional care for our patients. This unique nursing leadership role partners closely with ICU and hospital leaders to support staffing excellence, workforce initiatives, and operational success.
Responsibilities
- Partners with HSO staffing offices across the system to understand resource needs and assist with problem solving.
- Works with Program Manager to implement recommendations for standardized departmental staffing, and expense budgets for clinical operations across BJC.
- Makes forecasts for staffing needs and is proactive in filling requests.
- Drives solutions to standardize practices across broader BJC organization.
- Participates in the development and execution of functional business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy.
- Manages the delivery of safe and appropriate care by evidence-based practice, national benchmarks for clinical staffing levels/mixes and quality outcomes.
- Ensures that the productivity and actions of the team meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets.
- Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Supports and assists the growth of existing and new workforce management technologies and processes.
- Maintains comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards, as well as of the changing business environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Two years of ICU/Critical Care nursing experience required.
- Two years of leadership experience (Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or similar role) preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead effectively in a virtual, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, two years of ICU/Critical Care nursing experience required.
- Preferred qualifications: Two years of leadership experience (Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or similar role) preferred.
