About the Role

As an Assistant Nursing Manager, you will supervise patient care, clinical staff, and unit operations, ensuring high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily departmental operations, including off-shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff.
• Manage resources, quality improvement initiatives, payroll, and colleague scheduling.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment by working as a staff RN when needed and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Support professional development, foster standards of excellence, and lead or participate in performance improvement activities.
• Adjust staffing based on patient needs, manage colleague performance, and promote compliance through audits and rounds.
• Collaborate with leadership on investigations, policy communication, and committee participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred or must be obtained within 3 years if incumbent as of a specified date.
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid CT RN license and BLS certification from the American Heart Association; additional certifications may be required.
