Assistant Nurse Manager Inpatient Psych
Evenings: 5-8 hour shift or 4-10 hour shift plus management call every 5th week. Sign-on bonus up to $15,000.

The Psychiatry department consists of three inpatient units and an outpatient ECT service, staffed by passionate and knowledgeable healthcare providers. The department delivers high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care using group activity and music therapies, one-to-one care, and an interdisciplinary team in state-of-the-art units. There are 46 inpatient beds across Intensive, Medicine, and Geriatric Psych units.
- Psychiatric Medicine unit: Combines medical and psychiatric care.
- Intensive Psych unit: Focuses on acutely ill patients.
- Geriatric unit: Specializes in care for the elderly population with psychiatric needs.
Safety is a high priority, with numerous measures in place for both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates patient care, personnel management, equipment maintenance, and statistical accumulation.
- Manages staff, including hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and conducting professional development plans.
- Ensures productivity and actions align with the department’s operational goals.
- Participates in developing departmental staffing, revenue, and/or expense budgets; adheres to budget goals and responds to business changes affecting them.
- Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions, considering age and developmental needs to optimize wellness; documents care per policy.
- Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis, and medical treatment.
- Reviews staff hours worked vs. scheduled hours; determines appropriate disposition for variations.
- Performs and approves daily payroll updates; reconciles time cards, bonus tracking, and coding approval.
- Prepares, coordinates, and executes staff communications; leads huddle meetings.
- Determines staffing needs, makes nursing assignments, assigns overtime, and recommends annual increases.
- Interviews candidates for open positions; evaluates and conducts performance reviews; issues corrective actions/coaching and follows up on disciplinary actions.
- Ensures staff productivity and adherence to departmental operational goals; conducts performance evaluations and recommends improvements.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 2 years of RN experience (required).
- 5-10 years of RN experience (preferred).
- No prior supervisor experience required, though preferred.
- Active RN license.
