Assistant Nurse Manager | Emergency Department | Full Time | Mid shift

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager provides supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. They assist the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. They also assist the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s).

Responsibilities

• Hire and fire nursing personnel as directed.

Requirements

• New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
• New hires or transfers into the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position.
• Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.
• All current employees are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced by 07/01/2019.
• New hires and transfers are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Qualifications

• Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups
• Required Education: Associate's Degree
• Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred Education: BSN or BS in related health care field
• Necessary Skills: Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards & Nursing Standards, Demonstrate clinical skills in nursing practice, Good customer service skills, Basic computer literacy required, Above average oral and written communication abilities, Effective problem-solving decision making skills
• Required Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida, BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas, ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: Arrythmia Service (733210), Cardiac Holding Area (730501), Cardiology Interv North (733280), Code Blue Team (626003), CVICU (730400), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), FC Gastroenterology (703700), Float-ICU Flex (626000), Invasive Cardiology Lab (733200), MICU (700400), PACU (633600), Pain Management Center (750500), PICU (660401), Preop (633610), Surgery Center North (633480), and Trauma Center (713100)
